COURSE OUTLINE
COURSE 1: ASSET MANAGEMENT FOR HIGHWAYS (IAHE)

Dates: 18-20 November 2017 (3 days)
Asset Management – principles and practice of asset management; Introduction to ISO 55000; Deterioration mechanism of road/highway assets; Maintenance and rehabilitation of assets; Asset management policy, strategy and planning; Managing asset life-cycle decisions and activities; Valuation of asset and preservation of asset value; Planning, programming and budgeting for asset management; Financial and business orientation for managing road asset.


COURSE 2: ROAD ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION (IRTE)

Dates: 18-20 November 2017 (3 days)
Course Contents: Causes and consequences of road crashes; Road traffic legislation; Standards and codes of traffic control devices; First Information Report and Case Diaries; Crash scene management, Post-crash management; Concept of forensic science and engineering; Forensic evidence collection and preservation; Examination of witness; Photography; Types of finger prints; Foot prints and tyre marks; Types of documents and their examination; Accident reconstruction; Hands-on practice and laboratory practical.


COURSE 3: INTRODUCTION TO HDM-IV (CRRI)

Dates: 18-22 November 2017 (5 days)
Course Contents: Introduction to pavement maintenance management system; Measurement of distresses in road pavement: structural and functional; Non-destructive methods of pavement evaluation; Planning and execution for maintenance of flexible and rigid pavements; Introduction to Highway Development and Management (HDM-4) model; Theory of pavement deterioration models; Economic appraisal of road projects; Design of input data for HDM-4 modelling process; Calibration or fixing of model parameters to be used; HDM-4 modelling with operational details in model run; Interpretation of HDM-4 model results or outputs; Hands-on practice of HDM-4 model with practical examples.


COURSE 4: ROAD SAFETY ENGINEERING AND AUDITS (CRRI)

Dates: 18-22 November 2017 (5 days)
Course Contents: Introduction to traffic engineering leading to road safety engineering; Designing of road network features/facilities for safety – road link, intersection and other facilities; Safety considerations in planning of land use and road network developments; Introduction to road safety audit and its process; Audit in various stages of road development; Audit at design stage including practice with detailed design examples of roads; Field audit for existing road and road under construction; Audit check-lists and their application; Pre-opening audit; Preparation of road safety audit report and presentation of audit recommendations to the Client – practice.


*The batch size of each course is 15 participants to make it viable. In the event of shortfall in the desired number of participants, the Organiser, i.e., the IRF reserves the right to call off the training in advance of 10 days.
